Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica
Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica, Central Pacific Region (Puntarenas Province)
Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica is like a mountainous island oasis in a sea of large African palm plantations that cover much of the central coast’s landscape south of Esterillos.
Manuel Antonio National Park (Parque Nacional Manuel Antonio) is the featured attraction of Manuel Antonio. The park is small but has plenty of wildlife for viewing, with sloths, white-faced Capuchin monkeys, iguana and racoons regularly visiting the five beaches that make up Parque Manuel Antonio.
The recent completion of the new Quepos marina will most likely change the surf break, a hollow sandbar point, but we will have to wait and see if those changes negatively or positively effect the break.
Punta Catedral, on the park is a good left point on large south swells.
