Playa Avellanas, Costa Rica
Playa Avellanas, Costa Rica, North Pacific Region (Nicoya/Guanacaste)
Playa Avellanas, is a good surfing beach with a variety of breaks to choose from. There is a left reefbreak directly in front of the parking lot at Lola’s and the beach break north gets really good.
Lola’s Restaurant, named after Lola the pig that used to roam the beach in Avellanas is a great place to lounge on the beach and watch the surfers riding the waves.
The rivermouth reef break in Avellanas gets quite good on a low tide, but has become extremely crowded since the Marriott built a hotel on Hacienda Pinilla on the other side of the rivermouth directly in front of the “Little Hawaii” reef break.
There a several small hotels, cabinas and vacation rentals to choose from in and around Playa Avellanas, Costa Rica.
